Douglas Orr: I have lived in Long Beach for over 20 years and love my city very much. I believe in community and I believe in volunteerism.
As humans, I believe that we are all charged with leaving the world a better place then we found it and I have strived to leave my mark on the world. From helping to get start up funding to build the Lady Washington, a tall ship that discover Grays Harbor in Washington State, or creating and installing Lake Swano trail, a 1.3 mile trail around Lake Swan on my college campus, also in Washington, to securing funding to re-start a tree planting program on Atlantic Ave as a board member of the Bixby Knoll’s Business Improvement Association in Long Beach, California and finally by donating my time and money to help build a small black box theater for the Long Beach Shakespeare Company also in Bixby Knoll’s.
I am involved because it’s who I am and it is a way for me to showcase my many talents, find work and at the same time benefit my community.
